Primary Source Set: Parents and children

LGBTQ parents have fought for the right to build families that are protected and recognized, both legally and socially. Supportive parents of LGBTQ children have become allies, joining in the struggle to demand LGBTQ rights. From fighting for equitable access to fertility treatments, to building parental resources that support LGBTQ children, to challenging unfair adoption and custody laws, parents and children have played an important role in queer history. The sources selected here document the experiences of LGBTQ parents and parents of LGBTQ children. Topics include organizations like Parents and Friends of Lesbians and Gays (PFLAG), LGBTQ parents’ activism, and celebrating LGBTQ parenthood.
