Internships

Archives Internships

NOTE: Internship applications are on hold until further notice.

The Archives Internship program provides an opportunity for graduate students in Master of Library and Information Science programs or closely related fields to gain valuable hands-on experience in an LGBTQ community-based archive. Archives staff will serve as mentors and supervise internship projects. Interns will gain knowledge in standard archival practices such as collection processing, cataloging, and digitization.

We work with interns during the spring and autumn academic terms. If you are interested in becoming an intern for the archives, please email Isaac Fellman, managing reference archivist, to inquire about the next open application period.

Museum InternshipS

NOTE: Museum internship positions are currently unavailable.

The GLBT Historical Society Museum offers internship opportunities throughout the year for undergraduate or recently graduated students in art, history and museum studies programs, or related fields, to gain valuable hands-on and virtual experiences in an LGBTQ history museum. Under the supervision of the museum department staff, interns receive opportunities to help develop public programs, docent tours, exhibition texts and didactic materials. They may also assist with art installation and handling, curatorial research and daily operations of the museum.

The internships may be completed for college credit if approved by the student’s program. The society provides quality work experiences and learning opportunities, a supportive work environment and supervision, and training and feedback appropriate to the student’s existing skills and abilities.
