Code of Conduct
The GLBT Historical Society is committed to providing an educational, inclusive, safe, and welcoming museum, archives, and events experience for all.
Harassment, discrimination, violence, and abusive behavior of any sort will not be tolerated.
We reserve the right to deny admission and/or ask a person or group already admitted to leave for failure to comply with any GLBT Historical Society policy. This includes the GLBT Historical Society museum, archives, reading room, offices, and any other space that holds our events and activities.
We ask all visitors to:
Demonstrate respect to all in attendance and engage in no disruptive, harassing, illegal, or inappropriate behavior. Harassment and/or inappropriate behavior may include:
Abusive or derogatory verbal comments, slurs, or epithets
Threats or acts of violence to individuals, materials, or exhibits
Intimidation or stalking
Purposeful or repeated acts of misgendering
Inappropriate physical contact or unwelcome sexual attention
Photographing or recording individuals without their consent
Adhere to our prohibition on weapons of any kind.
Adhere to site-specific archives and museum policies and show respect for property and historical material.
Respect that staff and volunteers have the right to work in an environment that is free from discrimination and personal harassment.
Recognize that material in the archives and museum may be emotional or meaningful in different ways to different people and to respect individual boundaries. While many of our materials are suitable for all ages, some may contain sexually explicit content. These explicit materials are intended for adult research and education. Please consult our staff if you need guidance about the content of our archival materials or museum exhibitions and programs.
