Primary Source Set: sylvester

 

Sylvester (September 6, 1947 – December 16, 1988) was a famed Black, genderqueer, disco performer and singer-songwriter. His hit, "You Make Me Feel (Mighty Real)," continues to be recognized as one of the greatest disco songs. Sylvester died of AIDS in 1988. In his will, he bequeathed future royalties from his music to the AIDS organizations Project Open Hand and the AIDS Emergency Fund.
