PARTY FOR NEW HISTORICAL GAY EROTICA BOOK
Release Event for Homosex: Sixty Years of Gay Erotica
Hosted at the GLBT Historical Society
SAN FRANCISCO —On Tuesday, August 7, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., the GLBT Historical Society invites you to a book release party and reception for Homosex: Sixty Years of Gay Erotica. Join editor Simon Sheppard and contributing authors Steven Saylor and Robert Glück as well as some surprise guests for readings of vintage erotica and a discussion of gay porn. Much of the book’s material came from the Historical Society’s world-class archives. Visitors can enjoy a special erotica-centered tour of our collection.
Homosex editor Simon Sheppard, dubbed “our erotica king” by San Francisco magazine, has authored books including the Erotic Authors’ Association award-winning Hotter Than Hell and Other Stories and Kinkorama: Dispatches From the Front Lines of Perversion. His work has appeared in over 200 books. Sheppard writes the syndicated “Sex Talk” column and the current “Dirty Boys Club” serial on outpersonals.com. He lives in San Francisco and hangs out at www.simonsheppard.com.
Robert Glück has authored nine books of poetry and fiction. He was co-director of Small Press Traffic, director of The Poetry Center at San Francisco State , and Associate Editor at Lapis Press. He teaches at San Francisco State and is an editor of Narrativity, a Web journal. He recently co-edited Biting The Error: Writers on Narrative.
As Aaron Travis, celebrated author Steven Saylor’s first erotic story appeared in 1979 in Drummer. Over the next fifteen years he wrote dozens of short stories, the serialized novel Slaves of the Empire, and hundreds of book and video reviews. His stories have also been translated into Dutch, German, and Japanese. In 2003, his story “The Hit” was voted the all-time favorite by readers of Susie Bright’s Best American Erotica series.
